Insights and the path ahead at iPOS eProcurement User Day
Thank you to all for a very enjoyable iPOS user day last Thursday. It is always great to be surrounded by a community with a common purpose and goals.
Here’s a snapshot of the new developments for iPOS and case studies featured on the day.
Operational excellence starts with Intelligent Operations: Pieter van Schalkwyk brought us his take on the future that mid-tier organisations will start to face in the coming months and years. He identified three mega trends that he and his team at XMPro are seeing through their engagements with tier one organisations in the USA. Firstly, digitisation: the exploration of new business models through the migration of physical and analogue devices and activities into fully digital landscapes. Secondly, the aggregation and analysis of data already to hand to improve operational processes and decision making in the moment. Thirdly, the recombination of systems and data already to hand to create something new in the business or the marketplace. For the mid-tier businesses in the room, his recommendation was to start to marry up existing data in the business and seek out added value from the information that is uncovered.
iPOS eProcurement for SunSystems – latest update: Deanne Omar gave a great run down on all the latest modifications and enhancements in the current release. These were grouped into two distinct areas: productivity enhancements within the existing process cycle and operational enhancements across source to pay. As always, the feedback on the day showed this to be one of the most appreciated sessions for attendees. Watch out for a forthcoming webinar covering this session for those who couldn’t attend.
Infor 10x update: Liam Ryan introduced the latest updates to the Infor 10x platform covering the Ming.le™ collaboration suite, the ION integration suite and the Motion mobility extensions. Liam also covered the global collaboration between Infor and Professional Advantage over the last 12 months that has seen joint strategic product and sales development lead to a growing global sales and delivery footprint and a move to put iPOS into the core Infor CloudSuite offering for SunSystems.
Client case study: Rebecca Gatehouse introduced Senex Energy Limited and their growth and restructure journey from oil exploration to oil & gas production and the strategic systems deployment that support them. The catch cry, well worded by their Financial Controller, is “make it easy for people to do the right thing and hard for them to do the wrong thing”.
iPOS eProcurement for SunSystems – development: Deanne Omar once more took to the stage to introduce the development roadmap for the coming 12 to 18 months. These planned enhancements included features very close to release such as iPOS Expenses and some of those things a little further away but scheduled for attention in the coming months. Again watch out for a webinar soon for those who couldn’t attend on the day.
Client case study: Gerrie Botes presented the results of the Veolia Water project that set out to integrate the various asset maintenance and management systems that they have to deal with. The goal was twofold: deliver the single source of truth that the finance depart demand and enable the operations users out at each site to get the best out of the system they have access to.
Turning data into decisions: Faced with the last session of the day, Jonathan Marcer and Steve Ferhad were determined not to let a long day get the best of the attendees’ attention spans. They tag teamed their way through an entertaining session showcasing the benefits of combining Infor BI and iPOS procurement data to answer important business questions. What are the fully formed and least touched transactions? And indeed those at the other end of the spectrum. How are our suppliers performing? How is the AP team performing against targets? Who are the maverick buyers? And taking a leaf from Pieter van Schalkwyk’s second mega trend book, how could this and other data be married up to unlock other information and value for the business?
The day wound up with some convivial drinks and the sun setting over Darling harbour.
