How much does Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 cost?

BY PROFESSIONAL ADVANTAGE - 23 June 2016 - 3 MINS READ

Let me guess. You’re either considering Dynamics GP 2016 as an ERP platform and want to know how much it costs. Or, you’re an existing Dynamics GP user and curious to learn if you’ll have to pay extra to upgrade to the latest version.

No matter which option describes you best, here’s some good news: Dynamics GP pricing is easier to understand than ever.

Since introducing a perpetual licensing model for Dynamics GP in 2013, Microsoft has focused on simplifying pricing and adding greater flexibility to the purchasing process. This means new Dynamics GP customers can get started quickly, without the hassle of selecting functionality on a module-by-module basis.

When it comes to understanding the Dynamics GP 2016 pricing structure, here’s what you need to know.

  1. What functionality do you need?

All Microsoft Dynamics GP users gain access to core functionality in the Starter Pack. For extra functionality, you can buy the Extended Pack or Customisation Pack for an additional one-time fee.

The Starter Pack is compulsory for all Dynamics GP deployments. Many organisations find this is the only Dynamics GP licence component they need. The Starter Pack includes:

  • application setup utilities
  • asage rights to core financials and distribution functionalities
  • three concurrent user licences.

You only need one Starter Pack licence per Dynamics GP solution deployment. This is the case even if your installation is deployed over multiple servers, as long as you own the servers and they are in the same physical location.

If you need more functionality than what’s offered in the Starter Pack, you can add an Extended Pack. This pack integrates core financials and distribution management capabilities with functionality extensions for industries including:

  • supply chain management
  • project accounting
  • field service

Want even more integrations and customisations? Dynamics GP’s Customisation Pack includes all the tools you need to integrate with other products, as well as to extend the application to meet your specific business needs.

  1. How many users do you need?

The cost of your Dynamics GP solution will depend on the number of users that need to access the system at the same time, as well as how many need full access compared to read and write access. The fewer users, the lower the cost.

Full users concurrent licence receive unrestricted direct or indirect access to all of Dynamics GP’s functionality, including set up, administration and management.

Limited concurrent licence users have full read access and limited write access within Dynamics GP.

Self-service users can only access limited areas of Dynamics GP for the purpose of entering and retrieving their own personalised data.

Protected list price for current Dynamics GP clients

If you’re an existing customer upgrading from Dynamics GP 2013 or earlier, you’ll move to the new Perpetual Licensing model when you upgrade. You will maintain your protected list price and get access to the Perpetual Licensing model for no extra cost.

Protected list price for new Dynamics GP clients

New Dynamics GP customers can also take advantage of Dynamics GP’s protected list price. Protected list price means that the price you pay for Dynamics GP 2016 today will be locked in for the life of the product, as long as you pay annual maintenance and support.
