With the standard SharePoint integration, in Dynamics CRM saving attachments from Outlook into SharePoint, or attaching documents from SharePoint to an outbound message, can take many clicks and potentially some searching for the right document location.
As part of a wider program to develop our 1Staff product(s) we tackled this issue head on.
The user begins in Outlook by setting the Set Regarding status for the relevant email message. Our embedded code then takes over, and provides the user with a new Attach File button right within the Outlook window.
It works because within CRM, we have a defined path to the associated SharePoint document library, our new button picks up this location and seamlessly takes the user to this location.
Of course, it also works in reverse. So if you have an incoming email that is set regarding a record in CRM, you can automatically Save Attachments to the associated SharePoint location.
