I’m a sales manager. My salespeople and account managers are out in the field working with clients and prospects so they don’t want to be lugging around a laptop, their tablet and their phone, especially when they’re travelling. However, the rest of the business needs them to share information so we can know how their pipeline is tracking, how we can help them to close more deals and keep our customers happy.
As the sales team can only do this during gaps in their day, we need this to be easy and quick. We don’t want them to have to wait for their laptop to start up. We want them to focus on selling our products and services not working out technology. We also don’t want to have to pay extra to our provider to have this functionality.
With Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013, you can now download an app for either the iPad or Windows 8 Tablets. This means that your field sales force can easily keep the rest of the business up to date.
For example, as a business development manager I can come out of a meeting, turn on my tablet, open the opportunity I was just talking with and start adding activities that need to be completed. Assigning them to other members of my team. This means that I can go to my next meeting knowing that the rest of my team can already be working in responding to these requests.
Alternatively, I could be an account manager going out for a regular visit, so before I go in to the meeting I can review the account. I can see if any service cases have been opened while I have been meeting with other clients. Now I know before I walk in if any issues have been raised and their progress, so I am able to answer questions on the current status of the support call.
